Biography
Lorraine Kordecki was born and grew up in London. She now lives in Surrey with her husband, surrounded by an abundance of nature, close to the beautiful Surrey Hills.
Much of her earlier work was inspired by political events in Eastern Europe. She is mindful of her Polish/ East European roots, (her father was a 17 year old refugee when he came to England in 1947). Her strong connection to Poland, (she identifies as Polish), led her to spend time in Poland working with fellow artists and exhibiting abroad, including Kassel in Germany, Poland, Czechia and Israel.
Following a lifelong love of Italy, (she studied Italian as a minor subject at university), she now has a place in Sardinia overlooking the sea, where she spends time snorkelling and diving inspired by the fantastic nature both above and below water, (she qualified as an open water diver in the ’80’s). Her recent works have been informed by both nature on the island and the current turbulence in Russia and Eastern Europe.
